WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Puttin' On The Glitz has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means Puttin' On The Glitz is one of the very best bridal boutiques, featuring bridal accessories, invitations, fine silk florals, and unique gifts.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

Puttin' On The Glitz would like to thank our past clients for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award!

Special occasions call for Puttin' On the Glitz

They don't call them special occasions for nothing.

Just ask a young girl on her First Communion. Or a teen celebrating her Quinceanera or primping for the senior prom. Or a blushing bride on her wedding day, which is after all, the ultimate special occasion.

What better way for a girl at any age to feel special and beautiful than to put on a little glitz?

Just in time for the wedding season, a new store specializing in bridal, First Communion, Quinceanera and special-occasion accessories is getting ready to open its doors in Perrysburg.

Puttin' on the Glitz, located in the Arcade Shops in the Country Charm Shoppes, corner of Louisiana Avenue and South Boundary Street, will hold a grand opening celebration June 1.

Store owner Joanne Heuss has been in business since 1992, making custom-designed Swarovski Crystal and Swarovski Pearl jewelry, which she has sold at major arts festivals throughout Ohio and Michigan. She renamed her business from Tender Twists to Puttin' on the Glitz to better reflect the many new products she'll be offering.

The shop will carry a wide selection of tiaras, veils and hair accessories and adornments, including jeweled hairpins, clips and combs.

Brides-to-be will also be able to select other must-have accessories like garters, guest books, champagne flutes, invitations and even cake jewelry – think glitz for the cake top- including rhinestone monograms, hearts and double rings.

Silk floral arrangements, centerpieces and bouquets from Susan's Floral Fantasy will also be available. Huess will continue to offer her custom-made jewelry, crafted with Swarovski Crystal and/or Swarovski Pearls, which are available in a vast array of colors.

In addition to bridal accessories, Puttin' on the Glitz will carry accessories for Quinceaneras and First Communions.

They say necessity is the mother of invention, and for Huess, the idea to open a shop was born when she was about to become the mother of the bride.

"When my daughter got engaged, I realized it was going to be a challenge to plan a beautiful wedding that wouldn't break the budget," she said.

After attending the National Bridal Show in Chicago this spring, she felt she could offer the same high-quality products at a more affordable price than major bridal retailers.

"Everything we were looking at was so expensive, and all the little things add up," she said.

Puttin' on the Party

To further help brides-to-be and their fiancés navigate through the complicated process of wedding planning, the shop will partner with other local businesses to hold "Puttin' On The Party" seminars.

These free seminars, which will be held twice a month, will feature such topics as hair and makeup demonstrations from local salons, floral demonstrations, presentations by photographers/videographers, travel agencies, and even a massage night. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

The first "Puttin' On The Party," set for June 13, and will feature Krupp Media and Videography. Owner Brian Krupp will discuss the services videographers can offer and how to choose the right services to capture special wedding memories.

June 27 will be a night to relax from the wedding planning process, as representatives from the Healing Arts Institute will be on hand to provide complimentary 15-minute massages.

On July 11, representatives from Central Travel will stop by with information on popular honeymoon destinations and packages.

July 25 will feature Sue Bowman of Sue's Floral Fantasy discussing the newest options and trends for fine silk floral bridal arrangements, bouquets and centerpieces.

Future "Puttin' On The Party" events will feature destination wedding planning from Central Travel; DJs and hall selection and rental; bridal hairstyles from Salvatore Capelli Salon; invitation selection; Quinceanera planning, and more.

Schedule updates will be available at the Puttin' On the Glitz Web site (www.PuttinOnTheGlitzStore.com) and MySpace (www.myspace.com/puttinontheglitzstore).

The shop's grand opening will be Sunday, June 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be refreshments, hairstyle demonstrations and door prizes for brides and non-brides alike, including $50 gift certificates.

Regular store hours will be Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and all other times by appointment.
